Automation Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to support, enhance, and advance manufacturing automation systems within a dynamic industrial environment. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Promote a consistent, fair, and solutions-oriented approach aligned with organizational values
- Support a positive work environment by identifying skill gaps and contributing to employee development
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to achieve performance objectives
- Ensure adherence to internal standards, customer requirements, and quality expectations
Technical & Engineering Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for automation systems, including robotic equipment
- Design, program, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems to improve uptime, throughput, and product quality
- Lead or contribute to the installation, integration, and commissioning of new automation systems
- Support capital projects, including vendor selection, scope development, and technical validation
- Implement engineering changes and process improvements to enhance system performance and reliability
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance standards for automation equipment
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve operational capability and competitiveness
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deliver training for operations and maintenance teams on automation systems and best practices
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, efficiency gains, and waste elimination
- Track and report on project progress, system performance, and key metrics
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide occasional off-hours or remote support as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience programming and integrating PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Keyence, Cognex)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including AutoCAD and electrical schematics
- Strong understanding of automation systems, including sensors, actuators, and control principles
- Proven troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience may be considered
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during the workday
- Ability to sit for extended periods when required
- Occasional light lifting
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and work at varying heights
- Visual acuity for close-detail work
