Job Openings Backend Engineer

About the job Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build and scale the high-performance systems powering a global Checkout product and next-generation payments infrastructure.

This role focuses on designing APIs, services, and distributed systems that handle payments, settlement, asset conversion, identity verification, and multi-chain transaction routing. You will play a key role in building fault-tolerant, low-latency infrastructure that supports both web2 and web3 use cases at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs and backend services for the payments platform.
  • Develop and evolve systems supporting payments, settlement, transaction routing, asset conversion, and identity/security workflows across multiple chains and providers.
  • Build backend features that directly improve product performance, reliability, and conversion for dApps and partners.
  • Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and incident response to ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, contributing to code reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Continuously optimize system performance, latency, and reliability across the infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience building production-grade backend systems using a modern programming language (TypeScript preferred; Go or Rust acceptable).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and database architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization tools (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and system design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (primary working language).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in payments, fintech infrastructure, or high-throughput transactional systems.
  • Familiarity with blockchain technologies, smart contracts, or DeFi protocols.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing systems.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical writing in backend, infrastructure, or crypto domains.
  • Evidence of exceptional achievement in any domain (e.g., competitive programming, open-source, athletics).
