About the job Senior Business Credit Specialist

Waywhat?

We're Waylog. We back Nordic and UK importers with a state-of-the-art trade finance solution, enabling our customers to sell their goods first and pay their suppliers later through our platform. Since our launch in 2022, we have grown over 10X and became cash-flow positive within only one year. We recently moved into a brand new office in Södermalm, Stockholm, and we are excited about the big things we are building here.

What we are looking for ⭐

We are seeking a talented Business Credit Specialist to help us enhance our underwriting capabilities for both small and large, complex corporations. As a Business Credit Specialist, you will play a vital role in evaluating corporate customers who apply for a credit line on our Waylog platform. This involves analysing financial statements, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, engaging with the customer's management team, and preparing internal credit memos to support decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of setting some fundamental building blocks for the credit risk strategy and be part of a tight team that is creating a scalable business in an ever-changing disruptive industry. The position is based in Stockholm and is a hybrid position.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of customer-level information and third-party data to assess risk for Waylog. You will make the tough calls on a daily basis.

  • Apply your expertise in underwriting, financial analysis, and third-party data providers to revamp credit policies and facilitate expansion into new European markets

  • Utilise data and insights you see from our customers to improve risk management strategies and customer experience.

  • Communicate concise and actionable business strategies with teammates outside of risk as well as to external partners.

What we're after ️

  • Prior experience of underwriting businesses or financial analysis is a must. Experience within trade finance, i.e. knowing what 30/70 Against B/L or letter of credits are, is a plus.

  • Some knowledge of KYC/AML-processes in the banking or fintech environment.

  • A basic understanding of the regulatory landscape relevant to expanding into new markets across Europe

  • Strong communication skills with an ability to motivate and inspire.

  • An understanding of the importance of building relationships with clients as well as with internal stakeholders

  • Commitment to operational excellence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Swedish is a strong plus but not required.

  • Willingness to hit the ground running in a start-up environment.

  • A bonus is that you have experience with data analytics or know a little about SQL

Benefits

  • 6 weeks of fully paid vacation
  • Maximum available health benefit i.e. SEK 5000 in "Friskvårdsbidrag" (Have we already mentioned that the majority of us work out together during lunch?)
  • Real ownership. Both of your tasks but also of the organisation's future since you will receive an equity stake in the company.

One more thing!

At Waylog, we believe in hiring the right person rather than the right CV. Our success as a small team in a competitive industry is driven by the skills and dedication of our employees. We encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and take on diverse responsibilities in their day-to-day work if needed. We value quality, motivation, and a willingness to explore new ideas above everything else. If this sounds like you, we especially encourage you to apply, even if you don't tick every box above.
