Are you a motivated and ambitious engineer looking to build your career in structural engineering? We are looking for a dynamic Junior Structural Engineer to join our Structures Department. In this role, you will be involved in the engineering design, structural analysis, and detailing of concrete, structural steel, timber, and composite structures for a wide range of residential, commercial, industrial, and mining projects. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the structural design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber structures.
  • Prepare structural analysis and design calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop structural drawings in conjunction with CAD / BIM technicians and review drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce technical specifications, design reports, and engineering calculations.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, concept designs, and value engineering exercises.
  • Coordinate structural designs with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Attend design coordination meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct structural inspections during construction and provide site support.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide engineering clarifications during construction.
  • Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Identify structural risks and propose practical engineering solutions.
  • Participate in contract administration, including site instructions, variation assessments, and progress meetings.
  • Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, and structural investigation reports.
  • Perform structural assessments of existing buildings and recommend remedial measures where required.
  • Ensure designs comply with Namibian regulations, relevant South African standards, and where applicable international design codes.
  • Manage allocated projects to achieve programme, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Liaise directly with clients and maintain professional relationships throughout project delivery.

What We're Looking For:

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design. (Especially in coastal environmental conditions.)
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software. (Prokon, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
