About the job VISUAL CONSULTANT – OXFORD (HYBRID)

A Visually Skilled Consultant is needed to join Visual Meaning, a specialist management consultancy based in Oxford, helping organisations make sense of complex systems through powerful, interactive visual models.

Visual Meaning combines systems thinking, visual communication and knowledge graph technology to help clients understand challenges that are big, ambiguous or difficult. Their interactive visual maps create shared understanding across organisations, bringing clarity to complexity. You will be joining a thoughtful, collaborative team that cares deeply about the quality and impact of its work.

This role sits within the Project Delivery Team and is central to how client work comes to life. You will work closely with colleagues and clients to design clear, meaningful visual models hosted on a bespoke platform. It is a hands on, client facing position suited to someone with around three years experience in consultancy, professional services, science, academia, technology or a similarly analytical environment.

On a day-to-day basis, you will sketch and iterate system maps and visualisations, sometimes live in workshops, responding to feedback in real time. You will have access to a visual asset library and, where needed, collaborate with illustrators to design visuals for their interactive platform. You will also work with structured datasets to link these through to the visual compositions.

You will interview clients and, over time, facilitate workshops to understand what needs to be communicated and why. You will analyse interview notes, documents and datasets, extracting insights and shaping how information should be structured and presented. Alongside this, you will manage your time and budget, coordinating with colleagues to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.

To qualify: You should be a Visual Consultant, Analyst or similar with a CV that demonstrates

  • Experience in a client facing and or analytical role;
  • Strong visual thinking and information design capability;
  • The ability to distil complex or ambiguous ideas into clear, structured insight;
  • Confidence seeing the bigger picture and reflecting it back to others;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Comfortable collaborating with diverse stakeholders;
  • Project management and client handling experience.

A portfolio of visual work would be highly desirable, but not essential. Experience with vector graphics software such as Adobe Illustrator would also be beneficial, along with experience developing rich pictures or graphic facilitation. An interest in data and experience using Excel or equivalent is also welcome.

In return, you will join a friendly, tight knit Oxford team driven by a desire to make a difference. Salary is £45-50k (DOE). Benefits include 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, five percent employer pension contribution, generous sick pay and parental leave, salary sacrifice options, season ticket loan, hybrid working and a full suite of IT equipment including a MacBook Pro.
