About the job GROUP HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER (BIOENERGY)
A Group Health & Safety Manager / Group HSE Manager is needed to join EAG Bioenergy, a fast growing renewable energy business acquiring and operating anaerobic digestion and biomethane assets across the UK and Ireland. This is a hands on Group level role for an experienced safety professional who understands industrial environments and knows how to turn good practice into practical action.
Backed by a €700m infrastructure fund, EAG Bioenergy is actively acquiring sites and building a long term renewable energy platform. With the Group expected to grow to around 10 operational sites, maintaining consistent, high quality safety standards across the business is increasingly important.
As Group Health & Safety Manager, you'll take ownership of health and safety standards across the portfolio, regularly visiting sites throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. Much of your initial focus will be across North Lincolnshire and Humberside, where EAG's larger operations have more people, projects and day to day activity.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage safety from behind a desk. You'll be out on operational sites, carrying out audits and inspections, reviewing risk assessments and working practices, investigating incidents and helping teams make sensible improvements. You'll establish appropriate review programmes for each location, strengthen Group policies and systems, support contractor and permit to work controls, and provide senior management with a clear picture of performance, risks and priorities.
Just as importantly, you'll bring a constructive approach. EAG wants someone confident enough to challenge when required, but practical enough to understand how operational sites actually work.
To qualify: You should be an experienced Health & Safety Manager / HSE Manager / HSEQ Manager or similar with a CV that demonstrates...
- Significant health and safety experience within energy, waste, recycling, anaerobic digestion, manufacturing, engineering or another industrial environment
- NEBOSH Diploma or a comparable senior health and safety qualification
- Experience supporting multiple operational sites
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and practical compliance
- Proven experience of audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Knowledge of contractor management and permit to work systems
- Confidence working with site teams, operational management and senior stakeholders
- A practical, constructive approach to improving standards
- Flexibility to travel regularly throughout the UK and Northern Ireland
Experience with DSEAR, fire risk assessments, environmental permitting, ISO 45001, WAMITAB or similar industrial compliance frameworks would be advantageous.
In return, you'll join an ambitious, well funded renewable energy business at an important stage of growth. Expect a salary of £55,000 to £60,000, company car or mileage allowance, pension, healthcare and additional benefits, alongside the opportunity to shape safety standards across a growing UK and Northern Ireland operation.
