Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor – Night Shift
Skilled Nursing Facility

Location: City of Industry, CA
Shift: 12-hour Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) / Director of Nursing Services (DNS)

Position Summary

The RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations. This role provides clinical leadership during the assigned shift, supports staff performance, and ensures resident safety, comfort, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current CPR certification

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to apply nursing principles based on professional standards of practice

  • Demonstrated leadership, judgment, and decision-making skills

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure delivery of quality nursing care based on resident acuity and regulatory standards

  • Make daily rounds to assess resident condition, comfort, and care needs

  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff compliance with facility policies and procedures

  • Coordinate admissions of new residents

  • Assign and adjust staffing based on resident acuity and staff qualifications

  • Review daily reports and resident assignments with Charge Nurses

  • Perform resident assessments and initiate, implement, and evaluate plans of care

  • Communicate with physicians regarding resident status and ensure follow-through on orders

  • Initiate emergency measures in accordance with facility policy and nursing standards

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation per federal, state, and company requirements

  • Facilitate effective shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of care

  • Monitor staff competency in clinical skills and provide guidance as needed

Supervisory & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct nursing staff using independent judgment and discretion

  • Evaluate employee performance and provide recommendations regarding discipline, continued employment, and pay increases

  • Initiate and carry out disciplinary actions, including verbal and written warnings, suspensions, and recommendations for termination

  • Promote staff development through education, recognition, and performance feedback

  • Assist with orientation and ongoing education of nursing personnel

  • Ensure efficient utilization of staffing resources, including calling in additional staff when appropriate

Additional Duties

  • Implement restorative nursing care related to activities of daily living

  • Encourage resident participation in self-care and group activities

  • Protect residents from injury and infection

  • Safeguard resident privacy, rights, and personal property

  • Monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and medications

  • Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

  • Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Attend required in-services and facility meetings

  • Support overall facility and company goals

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching

  • Repetitive grasping and fine motor manipulation

  • Pushing and pulling as required

  • Occasional lifting of residents up to 150 pounds with assistance
