Charge Nurse – Emergency Department (Full-Time)
Location: Porterville, CA
Pay Range: $$48.80 – $68.31 per hour
Shift: 12-hour Shifts day/night (6:45am – 7:15pm) or ( 6:45pm - 7:15am)
Setting: Hospital Emergency Department
Bonuses: Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus (3+ years acute care experience)
Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Charge Nurse (RN) to lead and support our clients clinical team. In this role, you will oversee patient care delivery, coordinate staff, and ensure high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced ER environment.
You will serve as a leader, mentor, and clinical resource, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional patient care across all age groups.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during assigned shift
- Assign patient care based on acuity and staff competency
- Oversee admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Ensure timely and accurate treatments and interventions
- Respond to emergency/code situations
- Support staffing coordination and maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios
- Mentor and guide nursing staff and support professional development
- Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Assist with patient flow, triage, and EMS coordination
Emergency Department Focus
- Oversee triage operations and patient flow
Ensure timely EMS communication and response
Support compliance with EMTALA regulations
- Participate in advanced emergency nursing education and training
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency or relevant acute care experience
- Prior leadership or Charge Nurse experience preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA required)
- MICN certification (or eligibility required)
- CPI certification (or obtained within 1 year)
- National certification required within 90 days (if applicable)
