Role Overview
As a CNA , you will assist residents or patients with essential daily living activities under RN/LVN supervision, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity. You'll also observe and report changes in condition to guarantee quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility/transfers
- Take and document vital signs, weight, height, intake/output, and changes in condition
- Help transport patients (wheelchair/stretcher) and support in exercises or ambulation
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, and report incidents or clinical changes to supervising nurse
- Ensure cleanliness and infection control in patient areas
- Participate in mandatory in-services, training, and facility meetings
- Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families
Qualifications & Requirements
Must have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active CNA certification in California, and completion of state-mandated competency exam
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to pass background check
- Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
- Physical stamina to lift and support patients safely
Preferred (but not required):
- 1+ year of experience in skilled nursing, long-term, assisted living, or home health settings
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Additional credentials: Home Health Aide (HHA), CPI, dementia care, ICU experience
- Bilingual skills to serve diverse patient populations
