Pay Range: $48.80 – $68.31 per hour
Shift:
( 8:00am - 4:30pm)
Bonuses: Up to $10,000 Sign-On Bonus (3+ years wound Care RN experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Charge Nurse (RN) to lead clinical operations within our Wound Care Center. In this role, you will be responsible for the coordination, leadership, and delivery of high-quality wound care services, while ensuring optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.

The Charge Nurse plays a key leadership role by supervising staff, managing clinical workflows, supporting program development, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires strong organizational skills, clinical expertise in wound care, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Patient Population

  • Adult and geriatric patients
  • Patients requiring specialized wound care and treatment
  • Interaction with physicians, staff, vendors, and the general public

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Provide comprehensive wound care assessments and treatments in accordance with established protocols
  • Deliver patient-centered care including treatment planning, procedures, and education for patients and caregivers
  • Perform and support Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) patient assessments and chamber operations (as required)
  • Monitor and evaluate healing outcomes and patient progress

Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision and coordination of clinical staff (RNs, LVNs, and support staff)
  • Assign and prioritize workloads based on patient acuity and clinic needs
  • Support staff through training, mentorship, and performance feedback
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of new team members

Care Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Wound Care Physicians, Medical Director, and Program Director to ensure quality care delivery
  • Coordinate patient care across interdisciplinary teams and external providers
  • Act as a key point of communication for clinical and operational needs within the department

Quality Improvement & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, Joint Commission (TJC), CDPH, and hospital policies
  • Participate in and help lead Performance Improvement Programs (PIP)
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Monitor and support achievement of Wound Care Center quality metrics and outcomes

Program & Operational Support

  • Assist leadership in managing program goals, workflows, and clinical operations
  • Support budgetary and financial objectives in collaboration with leadership
  • Ensure clinic readiness including equipment, supplies, and workflow efficiency

Professional Practice & Accountability

  • Maintain accountability for clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, and team performance
  • Demonstrate adherence to AIDET communication standards
  • Uphold ethical practice and report any compliance or conduct concerns
  • Participate in emergency response and disaster support, as required

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Acute Care (Required)
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred)
  • Experience in wound care or outpatient clinical settings (Preferred)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License (Required)
  • BLS Certification (Required)
  • National certification in wound care or related field (Required within 90 days of hire, as approved by leadership)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, delegation, and team management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of wound care treatments and protocols
  • Ability to manage clinical operations and workflow efficiency
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based systems

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Moderate activity level:
    • Standing: ~40%
    • Walking: ~50%
    • Sitting: ~10%
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for clinical procedures and documentation
  • May be exposed to medical and cleaning chemicals (~5%)
  • Work environment includes moderate noise levels (clinic setting)
