Position Overview
The Senior Tax Accountant will manage tax engagements from planning through completion, mentor junior staff, and handle complex tax compliance and planning responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone seeking long‑term career progression within a fast‑growing public accounting environment
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects.
- Prepare complex individual, corporate, and partnership income tax returns.
- Supervise, train, and mentor associates on tax engagements.
- Perform tax planning and calculate estimated tax payments.
- Make recommendations on tax strategies, accuracy, and savings opportunities; increasingly participate in the review process.
- Conduct tax research and prepare written memoranda or client correspondence.
- Respond to IRS and state tax authority inquiries.
- Participate in financial analyses, including balance sheet and income statement work when needed.
- Manage multiple engagements in a fast‑paced, results‑driven team environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Accounting or Tax (or actively pursuing) preferred.
- CPA license or active path toward licensure required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Strong understanding of corporate, individual, and partnership taxation, including compliance and planning.
- Proficiency with CCH ProSystems FX, CCH Axcess Tax, QuickBooks, Excel, and RIA Checkpoint (experience with any combination of these is beneficial).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills; able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional client service and develop strong professional relationships.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, mentoring, and leadership skills.
