Compensation: $85,000–$115,000 Base + Bonus

Our client, a well-established public accounting and advisory firm serving West Michigan for more than 35 years, is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing tax practice.
This is an ideal role for a tax professional who wants more than simply preparing returns. You'll work directly with business owners, entrepreneurs, and families while developing your expertise in tax planning, business consulting, and client advisory services.
Unlike larger firms, you'll have direct access to firm leadership and meaningful involvement in client relationships from day one.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you'll work closely with clients and leadership on tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory engagements while continuing to develop technical and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Planning & Compliance
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corporation, and fiduciary returns
- Identify proactive tax planning opportunities
- Research tax issues and communicate solutions
- Stay current with federal and state tax developments
Client Service
- Build relationships with business owners and decision-makers
- Participate in planning meetings and client consultations
- Deliver exceptional client service and responsiveness
Professional Development
- Assist with training and mentoring junior staff
- Review work and provide feedback
- Continue building leadership capabilities
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 2–5 years of public accounting experience
- Experience preparing business and individual tax returns
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred
- Experience with closely held businesses
- Trust and estate taxation exposure
- QuickBooks experience
- Prior client-facing experience
