Position Summary:

As a Front-End Developer at White Shark Media you are responsible for creating beautiful, flexible, and user-friendly web applications using the latest web frameworks available (Angular, SCSS, HTML5) that consume information from RESTful services. 

You have a passion for translating brief user stories into materialized features, following development best practices, and thoroughly testing your own work. 

You are a team player, used to collaborating with backend engineers, graphic designers, and PMs to deliver a synergistic effort that yields engaging user experiences.

  • #1 Create beautiful, easy-to-use web applications that are built with and for the users. 

    • Work hand-in-hand with graphic designers to craft the best possible experience for our users. 

    • Create prototypes that can help test functionality prior to full development

    • Write easy-to-maintain code that follows the latest development best practices

    • Complete requirements on-time and be vocal about challenges or roadblocks that may hinder your progress

    • Address bugs in a timely manner, prioritizing client-facing,  or high impact issues

    • Consistently review existing functionality and investigate viability of user suggestions

  • #2 Peer-review functionality that is developed by other members of the team. 

    • Ensure that functionality created matches what is described on the feature request/description. 

    • Ensure that new functionality added does not break related features. 

    • Provide detailed feedback in cases where the passing criteria is not met so developers can fix, and resubmit.

  • #3 Staying relevant

    • Stay up-to-date with improvements in the field by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment

    • Participating in educational opportunities, pro-actively signing up for free training relevant to their work, and reading professional publications

    • Maintain personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • #4 Contribute to the development and implementation of new projects, activities and processes that benefit the performance of the departments and the company

    • Share feedback from users to suggest improvements to our existing systems.

    • Stay up-to-date on technology leveraged at WSM and suggest ways to implement new functionality, etc.

    • Participate in new projects that are not necessarily within the scope of your responsibilities, but require a team effort.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Written English Level: Intermediate 

  • Spoken English Level: Intermediate 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • Experience: Two years of experience as a UI/UX Developer, or Front-End related positions. 

  • Know How & Certifications: 

    • Experience in the following is a must: 

      • Angular or other similar component-based front-end frameworks like Vue.js or React.js

      • HTML5

      • Advanced CSS / SCSS

      • Javascript

    • Experience with the following are a plus: 

      • Salesforce Lightning Components
