About the Role

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead the Technology Department and be responsible for the entire technology stack, from strategy to execution. You will oversee multiple divisions, including QA, System Analysis, DevOps, Back-end, and Front-end Development. Your primary focus will be on the successful development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality, reliable, and secure web applications, particularly the company's Learning Management System (LMS).

Key Responsibilities (Your Key Performance ObjectivesKPOs)

  • Technology Leadership & Strategy: Define and execute the engineering strategy to scale products, fuel innovation, and ensure the technology stack supports organizational goals.
  • Project & Delivery Management: Own the planning, execution, and on-time delivery of complex projects. Manage the department's budget and resources effectively.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Inspire, grow, and support a distributed team of engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality & Process Assurance: Implement and maintain robust QA, DevOps, and security processes to ensure product reliability and performance. Streamline workflows to enhance efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, R&D, and other department leads to deliver cohesive and impactful solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Community Engagement: Actively support and sustain internal tech communities, facilitating knowledge sharing and aligning their activities with the department's goals.

Your Final Valuable Product (FVP):

The successful development and delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure technology solutions (especially the LMS) that drive user satisfaction and directly support the organization's mission to transform global education.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: 8+ years of overall experience in software development, with at least 3+ years directly managing a team.
  • Technical Background: Strong hands-on background in building and managing web applications (not just websites). Required technical experience includes: Python & PHP, AWS, Database Administration (MySQL), and DevOps principles.
  • Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow fully remote teams and manage complex projects from conception to delivery.
  • Methodology: Hands-on experience with Agile development and project management tools.

  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both technical and business-oriented.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration abilities.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Work Hours: Must be available for a full-time (9 hours/day) schedule with a 4-hour overlap with PST. The optimal working window for this role is 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM PST to align with the core team hours.
