We’re on the hunt for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team at their El Segundo HQ!

Our client is driven by innovation in the mining and drilling world, and they need someone who shares that spark. In this role, you’ll help design and build the world’s most advanced drill rigs, changing the game in mineral exploration and unlocking critical subsurface data faster than ever before. You’ll own your projects from the first sketch to the final product: design, prototype, test, qualify, and integrate.

And here’s the cool part: You don’t need prior mining or drilling experience!

🔧What you’ll do:

• Lead the full cycle of next-gen drilling rig design from clean-sheet concepts and physics-based thinking to prototype, testing, production, and global deployment. 
• Run simulations, hand calcs, stress analysis, and FEA to ensure performance in extreme environments. 
• Collaborate with electrical, control, and software teams to create fully integrated systems. 
• Optimize for performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability; conduct field visits to refine designs based on real-world feedback. 
• Own technical excellence, guide vendor selection, and ensure timelines are met.

🛠️ What they’d love to see:

• Proven experience designing, building, and testing high-performance mechanical systems, ideally heavy machinery or autonomous systems. 
• Proficiency in CAD (NX, SolidWorks, etc.) and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus). 
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, drive mechanisms, structural design, and manufacturing processes. 
• Analytical/scientific programming (Python, Matlab, Excel); self-driven, organized, great communicator. 
• Bias for action, passion for innovation, and flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when needed. 
• Must be willing to work from our headquarters in El Segundo

💰What are your compensation and benefits?🤔

• This role pays $150,000-$180,000, plus equity, so you’ll have a real stake in the company’s success. As our client grows, your equity grows too.
