Director of Engineering Upscale Hotel Property | Woodland Hills, CA
Were working with an upscale hotel property in Woodland Hills to identify a skilled Director of Engineering to lead all aspects of maintenance, facilities, and engineering operations. This leader will manage capital projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop a high-performing maintenance team focused on safety and guest satisfaction.
Key Requirements:

5+ years of engineering leadership experience in a hotel or resort environment

Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems

Experience overseeing capital improvements and large maintenance projects

Familiarity with Birchstreet procurement platform is a plus

Bachelors degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development

Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff; ensure proper shift coverage during peak periods

Conduct performance evaluations, deliver coaching, and resolve personnel issues

Lead safety training and uphold a culture of proactive maintenance and accountability
Facilities Management

Oversee all systems: chillers, boilers, compressors, water and control systems, HVAC, refrigeration, etc.

Manage preventive maintenance programs, emergency repairs, and vendor coordination

Ensure OSHA and ADA compliance across all engineering functions

Lead property inspections and address deficiencies promptly
Budget & Administrative Oversight

Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and supply costs

Source competitive bids and monitor vendor performance and pricing

Support other departments with cross-functional collaboration and excellent service
