Director of Engineering

Director of Engineering Upscale Hotel Property | Woodland Hills, CA

Were working with an upscale hotel property in Woodland Hills to identify a skilled Director of Engineering to lead all aspects of maintenance, facilities, and engineering operations. This leader will manage capital projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop a high-performing maintenance team focused on safety and guest satisfaction.

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience in a hotel or resort environment

• Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems

• Experience overseeing capital improvements and large maintenance projects

• Familiarity with Birchstreet procurement platform is a plus

• Bachelors degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

• Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff; ensure proper shift coverage during peak periods

• Conduct performance evaluations, deliver coaching, and resolve personnel issues

• Lead safety training and uphold a culture of proactive maintenance and accountability

Facilities Management

• Oversee all systems: chillers, boilers, compressors, water and control systems, HVAC, refrigeration, etc.

• Manage preventive maintenance programs, emergency repairs, and vendor coordination

• Ensure OSHA and ADA compliance across all engineering functions

• Lead property inspections and address deficiencies promptly

Budget & Administrative Oversight

• Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and supply costs

• Source competitive bids and monitor vendor performance and pricing

• Support other departments with cross-functional collaboration and excellent service
