Our client is a dynamic and growing restaurant group based in Phoenix, operating three unique concepts across six locations. Known for exceptional food, hospitality, and operational excellence, the group is expanding its leadership team to support continued growth. They're now hiring a seasoned Controller to take ownership of all financial operations and provide strategic guidance to the executive team.

Position Summary

The Controller will serve as the financial leader across all six restaurant locations, overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role will collaborate closely with ownership and operations leadership to ensure accurate financials, optimized costs, and scalable systems as the group grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and payroll

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

  • Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies

  • Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS), labor costs, and prime cost targets

  • Analyze financial trends and provide actionable insights to leadership

  • Manage relationships with CPAs, banks, and external vendors

  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements

  • Support new location openings and capital planning

  • Coordinate financial systems integration with POS and payroll systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry

  • Experience managing multi-unit operations is strongly preferred

  • Deep understanding of restaurant financial metrics (COGS, labor %, prime cost)

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with restaurant POS and payroll systems

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
