Role Overview:
The Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring culinary excellence, and supporting a productive, positive team culture. This hands-on leadership role requires strong operational focus, creativity, and a deep understanding of high-volume service.
Key Responsibilities:
Culinary Execution & Leadership

Assist the Executive Chef with all facets of kitchen operations and quality assurance

Oversee line execution, plating, and timely service during peak hours

Conduct daily line checks for food safety, prep readiness, and presentation standards

Help create daily specials that reflect seasonal ingredients and guest preferences
Team Development & Culture
-
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering growth and consistency
-
Promote teamwork and communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams
-
Help coordinate scheduling to maintain labor efficiency and service standards
Operational & Financial Performance
-
Support food cost and labor management efforts to stay within budget goals
-
Assist with inventory tracking, purchasing, and vendor coordination

Monitor and analyze P&L reports to identify areas for improvement
Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure all health and sanitation protocols are followed
-
Maintain a clean, organized kitchen with properly stored ingredients
-
Supervise closing procedures and equipment maintenance
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
-
2+ years in a culinary leadership role within high-volume, upscale dining
-
Well-versed in BOH operations, food safety, and inventory systems
-
Excellent technical skills: sauces, proteins, knife work, plating, and line support
-
Strong communicator and team leader, able to manage under pressure
-
ServSafe Manager Certification (or equivalent)
-
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements:

Able to stand for long shifts in a fast-paced, high-heat kitchen
-
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
-
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
