Role: Senior Backend Engineer 

Location: Remote, Portugal

Required skills:

6+ years of hands-on backend development experience with production systems
Significant experience building financial applications (fintech, banking, payments, trading platforms, or investment systems)
Strong Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices you write tests first and maintain comprehensive coverage
Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to model complex business domains effectively
Experience with cloud architecture, particularly AWS serverless and managed services (Lambda, RDS, Cognito)
Proficiency in database design, especially PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance optimization
Proven experience in building secure REST APIs with authentication and authorization mechanisms
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for production-grade systems
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Startup mentality comfortable with ambiguity, proactive, and able to work autonomously

Nice to have:

Experience with multi-currency systems or investment platforms
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues
Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., KYC/AML)
Knowledge of financial modeling or accounting principles
Arabic language skills or experience with RTL/internationalization

Tasks:

Design and build scalable backend services and APIs using TypeScript/Node.js
Architect data models and implement complex financial business logic
Practice Test-Driven Development and maintain high test coverage
Apply Domain-Driven Design principles to accurately model financial domains
Own AWS infrastructure decisions and implementation (Lambda, RDS, Cognito)
Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases and data models
Build secure REST APIs with proper authentication and authorization
Take initiative on technical decisions that impact product direction
Collaborate directly with product and business stakeholders
Debug production issues, optimize performance, and ensure system reliability
