The Opportunity:

As the Business Unit Director, you will be fully accountable for the strategic direction, operational execution, and overall performance of a significant business unit within our client's organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving Scalable Growth: Developing and implementing strategies to significantly scale the existing business unit, maximizing its commercial potential and market reach.
  • Leading a Large Organization: Providing strong and effective leadership to a substantial team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Commercial Strategy & Execution: Defining and executing comprehensive commercial strategies encompassing sales, marketing, and customer engagement to achieve ambitious growth targets.
  • P&L Responsibility: Owning the full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the business unit, managing budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and driving profitability.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring efficient and effective operational processes within the business unit to support scalability and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Market Analysis & Opportunity Identification: Continuously monitoring market trends, identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation within the retail landscape.
  • Talent Development: Attracting, developing, and retaining top talent within the business unit.

What You'll Bring:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within the retail sector or a closely related consumer-facing industry.
  • Proven success in leading and scaling a significant business unit or division.
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing successful commercial strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large, complex organizations.
  • Strong P&L management experience and a track record of driving profitability.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • A strong understanding of the retail market and its dynamics.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
