About the job Head of Legal

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Legal to lead and oversee the legal function of a large, publicly listed agribusiness company with global operations. This role is responsible for providing legal guidance on corporate, commercial, and operational matters, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing legal risks, and advising senior management and the Board on key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the legal department and act as the primary legal advisor to the Board of Directors and senior management.
  • Oversee corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters, particularly related to a publicly listed company.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, agreements, and other legal documents across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic counsel on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.
  • Manage and resolve disputes, litigation, and arbitration, including working with external counsel.
  • Develop and implement legal risk management strategies to protect the companys interests.
  • Ensure compliance with Indonesian laws, international regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Oversee matters related to land, licensing, environmental, and labor law relevant to the agribusiness sector.
  • Mentor and develop the legal team, fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Law (Master of Law or related certification is a plus).
  • Advocate license (PERADI) is required.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive legal experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong background in corporate law, capital markets, M&A, and compliance.
  • Experience in plantation, natural resources, FMCG, or related industries preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and verbal.
