What You'll Be Doing
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records for clients. Record transactions, reconcile accounts, and manage ledgers
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in line with accounting standards
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements and other accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Oversee payroll processing, including complex payroll calculations, in line with relevant laws and regulations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, and collections
- Prepare activity statements, GST reconciliations, PAYG, and BAS
- Stay on top of changes in accounting standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Act as a trusted point of contact for clients, providing clear and responsive support
- Spot potential issues early and take proactive steps to resolve them
Software Knowledge
- Proficiency with Xero
Experience with the following is a bonus, but not essential. We're happy to get you up to speed:
- Microsoft Office (especially SharePoint, Word, and Excel)
- Karbon
- Ignition
- Dext
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of Australian bookkeeping and payroll experience within a public practice environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping principles and practices
- Proven experience with complex bookkeeping, GST, and payroll issues
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- A high level of accuracy and genuine attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive when working remotely
