Job Summary

As our Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records for multiple clients. This role involves overseeing daily bookkeeping activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive bookkeeping experience, excellent organisational skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and managing ledgers.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Oversee payroll processing, including calculating and recording payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Prepare activity statements, GST reconciliations, PAYG and BAS
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and stay updated on changes in accounting standards and practices.
  • Provide client support and be their point of contact
  • Able to identify issues early and take necessary solutions

Software Knowledge (Preferably but not necessary)

  • Advanced proficiency with Xero (payroll software is a plus)
  • Receipt Bank (dext)

What Were Looking For

  • At least 5 years of Australian bookkeeping experience within a public practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive in a remote work environment.
