Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Public Practice Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Australian bookkeeping practices, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for helping clients achieve financial clarity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for a variety of clients, including data entry, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Data entry from Xero bank feeds, bank statements and source documents.
  • Assist in preparing IAS and BAS (to be reviewed and lodged by a senior accountant).
  • Process and post journal entries and end-of-period adjustments.
  • Maintain and update client files.
  • Assist in payroll processing and STP filing.
  • Assist in the firm's software transition from MYOB to Xero by ensuring data accuracy and consistency during file updates and system migrations.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Liaise with clients and the ATO to resolve any bookkeeping-related queries.
  • Reconciling ATO portal accounts and downloading reports.
  • Support the Senior Accountant and Director in review processes and technical training.
  • Contribute to improving bookkeeping workflows and firm efficiency.
  • Provide admin support and ad hoc reconciliations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience in an Australian public practice firm.
  • Strong understanding of Australian BAS, IAS, and payroll regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Software Knowledge:

  • Xero
  • MYOB
  • QuickBooks (Ideal, but not required)
