IT Engineer (Outside IR35)

Location: Remote / UK-wide (occasional travel may be required)

Rate: £300 per day
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Contract Length: 6 months (with potential extension)

About the Role

We are working with a leading organisation that requires an experienced IT Engineer to join on a contract basis. This role is suited to a contractor who is confident working independently, delivering infrastructure and support services, and ensuring systems remain robust and secure.

The successful contractor will provide hands-on technical expertise across a range of IT environments, with opportunities to support both project delivery and BAU operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd/3rd line support across Windows and cloud environments.

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networks, and end-user devices.

• Support cloud migration projects and infrastructure upgrades.

• Ensure security best practices are maintained across systems.

• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve technical issues.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in IT infrastructure engineering and support.

• Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, O365, and Azure.

• Experience with networking (switches, routers, firewalls).

• Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Experience working as an independent contractor, able to deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Exposure to scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).

• Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and security tools.
