Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening & Project Handover

  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and consultants during final construction and handover stages.

  • Conduct inspections of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems prior to opening.

  • Ensure proper testing, commissioning, and documentation of all building systems.

  • Identify and resolve snags and defects before operational launch.

  • Establish preventive maintenance programs prior to opening.

Engineering Operations Setup

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all engineering functions.

  • Set up maintenance schedules, asset registers, and inventory systems.

  • Implement CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) if applicable.

  • Prepare engineering budgets, including CAPEX and OPEX forecasts.

Team Leadership & Recruitment

  • Recruit, train, and lead the engineering team.

  • Develop duty rosters and on-call procedures.

  • Conduct technical training and safety briefings.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and proactive maintenance.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, fire safety codes, and environmental standards.

  • Oversee fire life safety systems, emergency power systems, and HVAC operations.

  • Coordinate inspections with local authorities before opening.

  • Develop emergency response procedures and crisis management protocols.

Operational Readiness

  • Ensure guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and critical systems are fully operational before opening day.

  • Support mock-up room testing and soft opening readiness checks.

  • Maintain strong collaboration with Housekeeping, Front Office, and F&B during pre-opening trials.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or related field).

  • 5–8+ years of engineering experience in hotels or large commercial properties.

  • Previous pre-opening experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, BMS, and fire safety systems.

  • Familiarity with local building regulations and compliance standards.
