About the Role
Our client, a long-established environmental consulting and engineering firm (founded in 1985), is seeking a Brownfield Redevelopment Project Manager to lead environmental site assessments, remediation programs, and redevelopment initiatives. This individual will oversee full-lifecycle project delivery while ensuring federal, state, and local compliance and maintaining high-value client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of Brownfield redevelopment projects, including environmental site assessments, remediation, design, and construction.
- Provide guidance to clients and municipalities on redevelopment incentives and strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, CERCLA, and state Brownfield program requirements.
- Coordinate with public/private stakeholders including developers, community groups, local governments, and consultants.
- Lead or support proposal development and business development initiatives.
- Develop project budgets, monitor expenditures, and maintain cost control.
- Define project tasks, schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Resolve project issues proactively and maintain on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams (engineers, scientists, contractors, planners).
- Maintain continuous communication with clients and manage expectations.
- Prepare client billing details and monitor outstanding accounts receivable.
- Identify opportunities for scope expansion and additional revenue.
- Mentor junior team members and support internal training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
- Minimum 10 years of environmental remediation and Brownfield redevelopment experience.
- Expertise in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
- Strong understanding of remediation technologies and environmental compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Proven client relationship management skills and stable work history.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising on redevelopment incentives.
- Proposal writing or business development experience.
- Mentoring and staff development experience.
- Strong financial and project budgeting skills.
Additional Details
- Hybrid schedule (2 - 3 days in-office weekly).
- Monday - Friday, standard business hours; local travel to project sites.
