Job Summary
Developing and leading the brand and community management strategy, with the goal of building a vibrant community, driving engagement, and amplifying its public presence. Overseeing high-impact marketing campaigns, curating digital content direction, and fostering meaningful relationships across media and communications channels. The role ensures consistent messaging, strong audience connection, and strategic growth which aligns with the mission of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Brand Direction
Develop and lead a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals
Define messaging architecture, content themes, and tone across platforms
Lead audience segmentation and growth strategies across Africa and the diaspora
Design comprehensive marketing strategies to amplify success stories, partnerships, and community wins
Campaign Oversight & Content Leadership
Guide the creation of key campaigns—ticket sales, donor campaigns, founder spotlights, etc.
Oversee content calendars, social strategy, and email marketing with support from the Associate
Support the development of video and written stories for brand storytelling
Set campaign KPIs and assess performance to refine content strategies
High-Level Execution & Collaboration
Oversee the execution of major activations (physical & digital) and digital campaigns, ensuring quality and consistency
Collaborate with program and partnership teams to ensure aligned communications
Manage external contractors or creative vendors when needed (e.g. designers, writers)
Supervise and mentor the Marketing Associate, & Graphics Designer
Public Relations & Press
Develop and manage media relations strategies to boost the company’s visibility
Draft and distribute press releases for major announcements, programs, and events
Cultivate relationships with journalists, bloggers, and ecosystem influencers
Identify and pursue speaking and media opportunities for leadership and partners
Support crisis communication and brand risk management if needed
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor marketing team members
Collaborate with sales, product, and executive teams to align marketing with broader business initiatives
Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
