About the Role: 

The Infrastructure & Logistics (I&L) Team are recruiting. We are seeking new members of our team to support the Trails element of 16th World Scout Moot. 

This role is ideal for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who is able to work well with others and will be able to support the development of a Trails framework for execution across the island Ireland in the lead up and during the 16th World Scout Moot.

The Trails element of the 16th World Scout Moot will see local Scouting offer a tailored programme package to Tribes of participants. The I&L – Trails team member will report to & be accountable to the Head of infrastructure  and/or their appointed deputy but will also work closely with the Head of Trails (Programme Team) and other members of the 16th World Scout Moot focusing on developing & executing a consistent Trails Framework. 


This role is for you if you want to:

  • Develop your skills in designing, planning, and implementing the infrastructure & logistics for a significant-sized event; challenging yourself to develop a consistent level of support across multiple Trails throughout Ireland. 


  • Work as part of a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality Trails to Moot participants from across the world.

  • Help ensure a lasting legacy from 16th World Scout Moot. 


Expectations & Responsibilities: 

  • Recruitment of other team members in line with the execution of the Infrastructure and Logistics Plan. 

  • Identifying the needs of the I&L Team and expanding the team (in consultation with the I&L Team Lead/their deputy) in order to achieve these needs.

  • Planning and oversight of the I&L areas of the Trails framework and execution including (but limited to) working with external stakeholders, local Scouting, sub-contractors (such as transport services).

  • Working in close partnership with other Moot Planning Team members (e.g. Programme, Finance, Communications).


  • Gain a high level overview of all aspects of the 16th World Scout Moot planning phase. 


  • Occasional travel to and within Ireland (and possibly other travel opportunities outside the island). 


  • Midweek and weekend engagements including face-to-face meetings (as appropriate amid the current pandemic restrictions), virtual meetings and reporting. 


  • Upskilling and training of Moot Planning team members, and future members. 

  • And lots more! 


About the candidate:

  • This role is most suitable for a member of Scouting Ireland who understands the geographical opportunities and differences. It is ideal for someone who will be able to work with members of local Scouting across the island of Ireland.

  • Access to your own means of transport is recommended, but not essential. 

Time Commitment:

  •  You will need to commit to attending the World Scout Moot event, in its entirety, prior to and during a two-week period in the summer months of 2022.

  • A considerable amount of time will also be expected for meetings across Ireland (these may be virtual and/or face-to-face). Although it is difficult to quantify these, it would be expected that you will be involved in such a meeting regularly. 


Terms of Appointment:

This is a voluntary unremunerated role. However, reasonable expenses in line with the Scouting Ireland & World Organisation of the Scout Movement (whichever is the most relevant) expenses policies will be paid.
