Job Openings Chief Tribe Advisor – Volunteer Support

About the job Chief Tribe Advisor – Volunteer Support

Reporting to: Conor Dunne & David Urban, Co-heads of Volunteer Support

Why should I apply for this role?

Are you an experienced large scale event’s organiser? Would you like to create and support a structure delivering mentoring and support to hundreds of youth tribe leaders? Would you like to mentor the mentors? Are you interested in broadening your skills while working on a once in a generation event? Volunteer support team is looking for Chief Tribe Advisor to design and execute Tribe Advisor component of the Moot. Sure we can't offer a six-figure salary or yoga classes on the roof(yet!) What we can promise is that you will enhance old skills, learn new ones, and meet some truly great people on the way! See below for more details!

Moot participants are divided into tribes and each tribe has one adult Tribe Advisor to help with any issues arising during the event and to mentor youth patrol and tribe leaders to improve their leadership skills. Tribe Advisors are recruited from members of CMT and IST

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Training tribe advisors in line with requirements of the moot
  • Creating and utilising communication channels with tribe advisors that can be used before and during the event
  • Coordinating with tribe advisors during the event to handle any issues that may arise relating to their roles.

Criteria

We are looking for a person with significant experience in people management and mentoring. Both professional and volunteer experience is relevant. We require experience with international scout events from at least IST perspective, preferably higher (event organiser, CMT). In the perfect candidate we would like to see strong intercultural understanding and ability to resolve intercultural issues. This is a leadership role.

Perks and Benefits

We are sure you will develop your skills, meet great people and have a chance to be part of an unforgettable experience. But more importantly, you will change lives of the next generation of scout leaders and guide them to be better. You will have impact on the Moot experience of almost every participant.

Time Commitment and Terms

This role will require time investment, from 2020 right through to the Moot itself, and post-Moot review. This role will entail continuous remote and possibly face-to-face meetings both on evenings and weekends. The successful individual(s) will also be expected to attend the Moot event in its entirety and will likely need to be available in the days prior/post Moot for logistical and delivery purposes.

We do not recommend taking another major voluntary role in the duration of this project.

We require good standing checks to be completed by every candidate.

Terms of Appointment

This is a voluntary unremunerated role. However, reasonable expenses in line with the Scouting Ireland & World Organisation of the Scout Movement (whichever is the most relevant) expenses policies will be paid.

Applicant agrees to all Moot policies, specifically Privacy Policy.
