Job Openings Head of IST – Volunteer Support

About the job Head of IST – Volunteer Support

Reporting to: Conor Dunne & David Urban, Co-heads of Volunteer Support

Why should I apply for this role?

Scouting cannot live without its volunteers. Adult scouts are the moving force in the background of everything we do, and the Moot is not an exception. While we need members of the International Service Team to make sure the Moot is running smoothly, we also want them to enjoy their time doing so. Head if IST is the key person to make sure balance between work and fun is found.

Sure, we can't offer a six-figure salary or yoga classes on the roof(yet!) What we can promise is that you will enhance old skills, learn new ones, and meet some truly great people on the way! See below for more details!

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Allocating IST to their roles and ensuring they are sufficiently trained and prepared to carry them out.
  • Make sure every IST knows what to do, where, with whom and when to work
  • Liaising with Head of IST Programme to ensure our IST not only work, but also have and fun doing so.
  • Head of IST is supported by Co-heads of Volunteers Support and other members of the Moot team.

Criteria

We are looking for a person with significant experience in people management and great organisational skills. Both professional and volunteer experience is relevant. We require experience with international scout events from at least IST perspective, preferably higher (event organiser, CMT). In the perfect candidate we would like to see strong intercultural understanding and ability to resolve intercultural issues. This is a leadership role.

Perks and Benefits

We are sure you will develop your skills, meet great people and have a chance to be part of an unforgettable event. You will shape IST experience from the ground up. But more importantly, you will show volunteering in scouts is not just about work, but about friendship, fun and making positive change in peoples’ lives. Regardless they are IST or participants.

Time Commitment and Terms

This role will require time investment, from 2021 right through to the Moot itself, and post-Moot review. This role will entail continuous remote and possibly face-to-face meetings both on evenings and weekends. The successful individual(s) will also be expected to attend the Moot event in its entirety and will likely need to be available in the days prior/post Moot for logistical and delivery purposes.

We do not recommend taking another major voluntary role in the duration of this project.

We require good standing checks to be completed by every candidate.

Terms of Appointment

This is a voluntary unremunerated role. However, reasonable expenses in line with the Scouting Ireland & World Organisation of the Scout Movement (whichever is the most relevant) expenses policies will be paid.

Applicant agrees to all Moot policies, specifically Privacy Policy.
