About the job Project & Process Safety Engineer - (NFPA, DHA) - Perm - Cordova, TN

This position will manage the contractor safety program and lead process safety initiatives.

There is 50% travel (2 weeks out of the month).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with internal resources and/or specialist consultants to develop comprehensive Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) plans for each of the US and Canadian facilities 
  • Work with companies that specialize in Fire and Explosion Prevention to develop solutions for the identified risks within the DHA
  • Work with the internal Technical and Engineering departments, develop a comprehensive installation plan with budgets and timelines based on the results of the DHA and the work produced with the specialized Fire and Explosion Prevention companies
  • Set up regular meetings with the mills for engagement of execution on findings
  • Schedule internal, and external Process Safety audits at the mills at the correct cadence
  • Lead AON corrective action plans with divisions
  • Manage contractor safety program
  • Work with divisional and project resources to understand and comply with the contractor safety program, assist with incident investigations

  • Set up regular meetings with the mills to ensure Contractor Safety Management is understood
  • Schedule internal Contractor Safety audits at the mills at the correct cadence
  • Ensure contractor safety records are maintained for each project
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:


  • BS degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering or a combination of education and experience
  • 3 years experience in an industrial/project role, 5+ years preferable
  • Must have experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience with NFPA or Equivalent Dust hazard regulations g. NFPA 68, 654 or ATEX
  • Experience in risk assessment and management of change in a heavy industrial environment is preferred
  • Very extensive experience with Office 365 including MS Project, Smart Sheets,
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to speak to groups
  • Proven organizational skills by successfully handling multiple priorities
  • Proven experience in problem-solving complex or difficult situations by anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead about what is next
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to work well and thrive in environments where you are equally comfortable working alone or working as a key contributor to a team
