Position: Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Schedule: 36 hours or 24 hours - Nights or Day/Night with Rotating Weekends/Holidays

Must-Haves:

  1. Current MA RN License
  2. Hospital nursing experience or experience in a sub-acute setting
  3. Current Basic Life Support Certification

About the Medical Surgical Center:

The patient population consists of a wide range of general medical diagnoses and conditions. Prospective candidates for this unit must demonstrate cultural competence and professional integrity in the pursuit of optimal patient care, and enjoy the variety of clinical experiences that the specialty of Medical Surgical Nursing provides.

Position Summary:

As an RN in the Medical Surgical unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model, you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various healthcare team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMCs nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
