About the Role

This is a founding engineering role at Vali Health focused on building an autonomous after-hours operations system for home healthcare. Vali Health has developed a multi-agent AI platform that serves as the operational backbone for home care agencies — coordinating caregivers, managing schedules, and ensuring vulnerable populations receive reliable care around the clock. They have a live prototype already delighting customers and are now looking for a product-minded engineer to take it to scale.

You'll own the complete pipeline from voice interactions to workflow execution to human escalation, ensuring no critical call goes unanswered. This is deeply product-driven work — you'll interact directly with customers, see immediate impact from your code, and make the technical decisions that determine how life-critical automation earns trust at scale. Vali Health has seen 20x ARR growth in 6 months and is building toward its next funding milestones.

Responsibilities

• Own the After-Hours Operations Pipeline: Build and maintain the full autonomous system — voice interactions, workflow execution, and human escalation — so that no critical call goes unanswered.
• Design Escalation Intelligence: Implement the logic that determines when AI can handle situations independently versus when human expertise is required.
• Build Operator Trust Tools: Develop monitoring, review, and audit systems that give human operators complete confidence in AI-driven decisions, along with workflow execution engines and seamless handoffs to existing systems.
• Create Continuous Improvement Pipelines: Build automated testing, evaluation frameworks, and rapid iteration cycles that learn from every call.
• Ship Full-Stack Features: Deliver end-to-end solutions from backend orchestration to operator dashboards to customer-facing experiences, defining automation boundaries with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Startup Experience: 3–5 years in startup environments with a track record of balancing speed and reliability.
• Production Conversational AI: Hands-on experience shipping and operating call automation or voice agent systems that real users depend on — not just demos.
• LLM Production Expertise: Deep understanding of tool use, structured outputs, evaluation frameworks, and safety guardrails.
• Operations Tooling Background: Experience building internal tools, QA workflows, escalation systems, or audit-friendly interfaces.
• Full-Stack Versatility: Comfort across backend systems, LLM workflows, and user-facing applications.
• Product Intuition: Strong instinct for shipping fast, iterating on real feedback, and translating chaotic real-world processes into reliable software.
• Location: San Francisco-based and excited about in-person collaboration (minimum 3 days/week).
