Role Description

For our client based in Bucharest, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage the financial and accounting operations. The role requires ensuring compliance with local accounting standards, optimizing financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of financial regulations, and experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the accounting function for all entities in Romania.
• Streamline and improve accounts payable, accounts receivables, general ledger and month end close processes with Chief Accountant
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, Romanian GAAP, local tax regulations (ANAF) and financial reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes (target of workday 3-4 closing), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial risks, providing recommendations to management.
• Lead group consolidation processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting across all entities.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial accuracy.
• Coordinate audits (internal and external) and liaise with auditors and tax authorities.
• Support the Group CFO in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, optimize accounting systems and software to enhance efficiency and controls.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team ensuring professional growth and development.
• Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and assess their impact on the groups operations.
• Ad-hoc Analysis: Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and insights to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions and board presentations.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Technical Skills:
• Proficient in ERP software (e.g. Dynamics, SAP) and Microsoft office suite.
• Strong Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
• Knowledge of financial & tax regulations, IFRS, Romanian GAAP etc.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis
