Production Director
About the job Production Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Costing & Order Planning
- Oversee accurate cost calculations for in-house, local, and international orders (customised and readymade).
- Coordinate with procurement and sales to ensure commercially viable pricing and margin control.
- Review and approve costing models for new developments and existing styles.
2. Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Supervise procurement of fabrics, trims, and ready-made customized items.
- Manage and build relationships with key material and accessories suppliers.
- Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
3. Production Team Management
- Structure, train, and supervise a cross-functional team including:
- Procurement Specialists
- Pattern Makers
- Marker Makers
- QC Staff
- Costing Specialists
- Foster a performance-oriented culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
4. In-House Production Oversight
- Lead the operational launch of the companys own production unit (50+ tailors).
- Organize workflow, capacity planning, and production scheduling.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and efficiency of the in-house stitching and sampling unit.
5. Outsourced Production Management
- Manage local CM partners to ensure quality, timelines, and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with international production partners as per order requirements.
6. Inventory & Material Flow
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Implement systems to ensure optimal stock levels, track consumption, and avoid over/understocking.
7. Quality Control
- Ensure robust QC processes across in-house and outsourced production.
- Develop SOPs and quality checkpoints at every stage of the production cycle.
- Resolve quality issues in coordination with technical and sales teams.
8. ERP, Reporting & Automation
- Lead automation initiatives within the production function using ERP, CRM, and planning tools.
- Ensure all production-related data (costing, material flow, QC reports, etc.) is accurately recorded and reported.
- Work closely with IT/ERP teams to improve workflow transparency and operational visibility.
Requirements:
Education: Degree/Diploma in Garment Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, or related field
Experience: Minimum 10 years in workwear manufacturing; regional GCC experience preferred
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent planning and coordination skills
- Deep understanding of production costing and supply chain
- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and production automation tools
- Strong analytical and computer skills (Excel, ERP, CAD/Marker-making software, etc.)
- Effective verbal and written communication in English
