Job Title: Senior CRO Strategist
Why Join YAMU
We are building an experimentation organization from the ground up, where specialists have meaningful ownership over business outcomes rather than simply running A/B tests. You will help shape experimentation strategy, influence product and customer experience decisions, partner with elite UX designers and Shopify developers, and build new playbooks instead of following old ones.
We are looking for builders, not maintainers. Most CRO roles ask you to optimize existing websites. This opportunity is different.
Job Overview
We are building a next-generation ecommerce growth organization focused on measurable business outcomes, not marketing deliverables. Rather than asking specialists to optimize isolated pages, we are assembling small, elite pods that own experimentation strategy across high-growth consumer brands. If you are excited by building rather than maintaining, influencing business decisions through data, and working alongside exceptional specialists, we would love to talk.
You own the thinking: what to test, why, and in what order. You turn analytics data, session recordings, and customer psychology into prioritized test roadmaps, then work with the pod's UX Designer and Shopify Developer to ship experiments and read the results. You are the primary point of contact for your brands and the person the business trusts to move their conversion rate.
Key Responsibilities:
Run full CRO audits on brand sites: analytics deep dives, heuristic reviews, funnel analysis, and competitor benchmarking
Build and maintain a prioritized test roadmap for each brand, with clear hypotheses, success metrics, and effort estimates grounded in business impact
Analyze GA4, Microsoft Clarity, and heatmap data to find friction points and revenue leaks
Mine reviews, surveys, support tickets, and customer interviews for the psychology and language behind purchase decisions, not just behavioral patterns
Write test hypotheses in a structured format: observed problem, proposed change, expected outcome, and measurement plan
Brief the pod UX Designer and Shopify Developer on each test, review their output against the hypothesis, and sign off before launch
Read test results with statistical discipline: significance, sample size, segment effects, and honest calls on inconclusive tests
Present findings and roadmaps to brand teams in monthly reviews, in plain language backed by data
Document learnings per brand so wins and losses compound across the program
What you will own
Experimentation roadmap: current, prioritized, and defensible at all times
Revenue opportunities identified through data and customer understanding
Testing velocity and learning velocity across your brands
Quality of hypotheses: every test traceable to data and business logic, not opinion
Cross-functional alignment between strategy, design, and development
Quality of strategic recommendations to brand leadership
What Success Looks Like
Success is not measured by how many experiments you launch. It is measured by whether experimentation changes business outcomes.
You will help the brands you work with answer questions like:
Where should we invest next?
What customer friction matters most?
Which tests deserve engineering resources?
Which experiments create meaningful revenue impact?
Must Have:
3+ years running CRO or experimentation programs, agency or in-house
Hands-on GA4 fluency: exploration reports, funnels, segments, and event debugging
Experience with session recording and heatmap tools (Clarity, Hotjar, or similar)
Working knowledge of A/B testing statistics: significance, power, sample size, and common traps like peeking
Experience prioritizing experimentation based on business impact, not just conversion metrics
Understanding of customer psychology, purchasing behavior, and ecommerce decision-making -- not just page analytics
Strong written English: your hypotheses, briefs, and brand reports are the product
Comfort presenting to brand teams and defending a recommendation under questioning
Ecommerce experience, ideally with Shopify stores
Nice to have
Experience running voice of customer research: review mining, surveys, user interviews
Experience with testing platforms (Convert, VWO, Optimizely, or custom setups)
Familiarity with GTM and conversion tracking, enough to spot broken measurement
Background in copywriting, UX research, or paid media
AI at YAMU
We are intentionally building AI-native operating systems across every function. Successful candidates should already be using AI to improve research, experimentation, documentation, analysis, and day-to-day decision-making. This is not an enhancement to how you work. It is how you work.
Your Attributes
You take extreme ownership and see projects through to completion without excuses
You think commercially: you care about revenue impact, not test count
You are a unique thinker who can translate data into decisions others can act on
Customer-driven mindset: you see every experiment through the lens of the person who has to click, scroll, or buy
Entrepreneurial instincts: proactive, solution-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity
You solicit and welcome feedback, including on your own hypotheses
Highly adaptable and energized by a high-growth environment where the playbook is still being written
Bonus Skills
Motion graphics or basic frontend familiarity, enough to communicate precisely with developers
Experience with YouTube or long-form landing page optimization
Familiarity with qualitative research methods beyond review mining
How the Pod Works
Each pod owns a portfolio of ecommerce brands, working together to identify the highest-impact growth opportunities, rapidly test ideas, and continuously improve the customer experience through experimentation. You will partner closely with a dedicated UX Designer and Shopify Developer, translating experimentation strategy into customer experiences that can be rapidly tested and iterated. Work moves through a defined pipeline: audit, roadmap, hypothesis, design, build, QA, launch, readout. You are accountable for the whole loop, not just your slice of it.
Hiring Process
Application with resume and portfolio: we require at least 2 examples of CRO programs you have run: what you tested, why, and what happened
30-minute screening call
Take-home exercise: a mini audit of a live store with a 5-test roadmap, ranked in priority order -- the prioritization and the reasoning behind it matter as much as the tests themselves
Technical interview with the founder, including a walkthrough of your exercise
We Offer you:
Fully Remote work
Become part of a team of smart, open-minded people with individual qualities
You'll be a part of a rapidly growing company, with plentiful opportunities to grow into leadership roles. And you'll face a steep learning curve & daily data science, technological, and business challenges.
