Nurse Manager (LVN/RN) — Substance Use Disorder
Medical Detox & Residential Treatment Center — California (On-Site)
Overview
Our primary substance use disorder treatment center is seeking a licensed California Registered Nurse (RN) or LVN to lead nursing operations as Nurse Manager across medical detox and residential levels of care. This role ensures patient safety, clinical excellence, staff competency, and regulatory compliance in a high-acuity inpatient treatment environment.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Leadership & Staff Development
- Supervise, train, and develop RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and Client Care Techs/CNAs
- Create and manage staffing schedules to maintain safe clinical ratios
- Conduct competency evaluations, clinical coaching, and performance oversight
- Lead ongoing training on withdrawal care, medications, and emergency response
- Promote a trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and patient-centered culture
Clinical Oversight
- Oversee nursing care delivery across Detox + Residential
- Ensure accurate and timely medication administration, monitoring, and withdrawal management
- Maintain emergency and escalation protocols for high-acuity clients
- Ensure medical clearance, intake screenings, and nursing documentation meet standards
- Review, validate, and approve nursing clinical documentation
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain survey-readiness for Joint Commission (JCAHO) or CARF, if applicable
- Ensure compliance with California DHCS, Title 9, and withdrawal management regulations
- Oversee medication storage, controlled-substance counts, disposal, and documentation audits
- Lead internal chart audits for nursing accuracy and risk mitigation
- Update and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory alignment
- Provide clinical collaboration with Utilization Review and Admissions for acuity and medical-clearance decisions
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Partner with the Medical Director, Clinical Director, and Executive Leadership
- Support admissions by ensuring timely nursing screenings and intake approvals
- Maintain medical supply inventory and ordering oversight
- Communicate clinical needs effectively across departments
Qualifications
Required
- Active California LVN/RN License (in good standing)
- Minimum 2+ years nursing leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or higher)
- Experience in medical detox, residential SUD, or inpatient behavioral health
- Strong knowledge of:
- Withdrawal management and detox protocols
- Psychotropic, SUD, and detox medications
- ASAM levels of care for inpatient treatment
- Ability to work on-site at a treatment facility in California
- Valid drivers license
Preferred
- Familiarity with KIPU EMR or similar clinical systems
- Experience in accredited treatment centers (Joint Commission/CARF audit or survey support)
- IV and phlebotomy skills a plus

- Full-time, on-site
