Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced National Veteran Outreach Representative to develop and expand referral relationships with Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMCs) and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) across the country. This individual will play a critical role in connecting veterans with high-quality behavioral health treatment while serving as a trusted resource to VA staff and community partners.

The ideal candidate has active, established relationships with VAMC personnel and can demonstrate a history of generating referrals for behavioral health treatment programs. Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of the VA Community Care Network (CCN), SEOC authorization structure, and the Request for Services (RFS) process, including successfully obtaining treatment extensions. Military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and grow referral relationships with VAMCs, CBOCs, Vet Centers, and other veteran-serving organizations nationwide.
  • Leverage existing VA relationships to generate admissions into behavioral health treatment programs.
  • Manage an assigned territory while identifying new referral opportunities and expanding existing accounts.
  • Educate VA providers, social workers, case managers, and community care staff on available behavioral health treatment services.
  • Navigate the VA Community Care Network (CCN) authorization process to facilitate timely admissions.
  • Work directly with SEOC personnel and VA Community Care teams to obtain initial authorizations and treatment extensions.
  • Prepare, submit, and track Requests for Services (RFS) while ensuring all required documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Coordinate closely with admissions, utilization review, and clinical teams to ensure seamless transitions into care.
  • Maintain accurate CRM documentation and provide regular pipeline and referral activity reports.
  • Represent the organization at veteran-focused events, conferences, and community outreach opportunities.
  • Travel as needed to strengthen relationships and support referral growth.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in behavioral health business development, veteran outreach, or healthcare marketing.
  • Established VAMC relationships with active named contacts currently referring clients into behavioral health treatment programs in NJ, MA, AZ, AR, NY, FL, IN, and/or TN.
  • Demonstrated success developing referral partnerships within the VA healthcare system.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • VA Community Care Network (CCN)
    • SEOC authorization structure
    • Request for Services (RFS) process
    • Authorization renewals and treatment extensions
  • Experience collaborating with VA social workers, case managers, community care offices, and clinical staff.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed.
  • Military veteran status is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing referral relationships that consistently generate behavioral health admissions.
  • Experience working with substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment providers.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and referral tracking systems.
