Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Substance Use Therapist to support clients across Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP) levels of care. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based individual and group therapy rooted in substance use treatment, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and recovery-focused care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clinical caseload providing weekly individual counseling sessions

  • Lead and facilitate private-center substance use therapy groups in PHP/IOP/OP

  • Conduct intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations as needed

  • Develop and document individualized treatment plans and ongoing plan updates

  • Provide clinical documentation that meets NJ regulatory and compliance standards

  • Support aftercare planning and relapse prevention strategies

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including admissions, nursing, psychiatry, UR, and care coordination

  • Engage families when appropriate for support calls and recovery education

  • Utilize EMR systems for accurate, timely, and compliant clinical charting

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold one of the following active New Jersey credentials:
    LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LAC, LCADC, LSW, 

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field

  • Prior experience at a private substance abuse treatment center (REQUIRED)

  • Clinical experience managing a therapy caseload, documentation, and group facilitation

  • Understanding of recovery principles and relapse prevention clinical frameworks

  • Ability to work on-site in NJ

Preferred / Plus Experience

  • Experience leading therapy groups in PHP / IOP settings

  • Strong understanding of the 12-Step recovery model

  • Familiarity with relapse prevention, motivational interviewing (MI), CBT for SUD, and recovery coaching principles

  • Knowledge of ASAM levels of care (PHP/IOP/OP)
