Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer to support the implementation, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure across multiple business environments.

This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys working across on-premises and cloud environments, solving complex technical challenges, improving operational efficiency, and supporting highly available enterprise systems.

While this is an individual contributor position, the successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, providing guidance on infrastructure best practices and acting as an escalation point for complex systems issues.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Engineering & Administration

• Design, implement, maintain, and support secure, scalable enterprise infrastructure.
• Configure and administer:
  • Microsoft Windows Server

  • VMware virtualization
  • Enterprise storage
  • Backup platforms
  • Microsoft 365
  • Azure
  • AWS
• Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and modernization initiatives.
• Support scheduled maintenance, patching, deployments, and system configuration changes.

Systems Operations & Troubleshooting

• Monitor infrastructure performance, health, and availability.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving:
  • Servers
  • Operating systems
  • Virtualization
  • Identity services
  • Storage
  • Backup
  • Cloud platforms
  • Network connectivity
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 infrastructure support.
• Support incident response and critical outage resolution.

Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Support enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations.
• Monitor backup jobs and resolve failures.
• Perform restore validation and recovery testing.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning.
• Ensure backup retention and recovery objectives are met.

Security & Compliance

• Support infrastructure security through:
  • Patch management
  • Vulnerability remediation
  • Access control
  • System hardening
  • Certificate management
• Participate in audits and compliance initiatives.
• Follow established change management processes.
• Ensure all infrastructure changes are properly documented and approved.

Automation & Documentation

• Maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation, including:
  • Diagrams
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Recovery documentation
  • Configurations
  • Troubleshooting guides
• Automate administrative tasks using:
  • PowerShell
  • APIs
  • Infrastructure management tools
  • AI-assisted workflows
• Drive continuous process improvements and operational efficiency.

Collaboration

• Partner closely with infrastructure, network, security, application, and business teams.
• Provide technical guidance to teammates.
• Coordinate with vendors on support and implementation activities.
• Participate in project planning and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

• 8+ years of enterprise systems engineering or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong experience supporting:
  • Microsoft Windows Server
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • DNS
  • DHCP
• Hands-on VMware administration (vCenter, ESXi, virtual machines).
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery.
• Strong background in:

  • Software deployment
  • Infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Change management
  • Incident management
• Experience supporting Tier 2 and Tier 3 infrastructure environments.
• Strong documentation skills.
