SUMMARY

Acts as a Senior Project Manager and senior advanced architect in the department. Responsible for projects and technical development in the architectural discipline. May also fill role of Architectural project lead on some projects.

SALARY RANGE: 80,000 - 120,000 UDS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For complex, single and multi-discipline projects. Responsible for:
    • Leads proposal development and project documentation including estimating design hours for scope and scope development.
    • Maintained and tracking budget and scope throughout the project.
    • Identifying scope variance and preparing change orders.
    • Adheres to provided Project Execution Procedures and other company procedures.
    • Communicates with client regarding project requirements.
    • Communicates with discipline and other disciplines for coordination of project requirements and design.
  • For complex, single and multi-discipline projects, serving as a project architect. Responsible for:
    • Assists with proposal development and project documentation including estimating architectural hours for scope and discipline scope development.
    • Checks the disciplines scope and budget progress and alerts the Project Manager to needed changes to the scope or other services, including weekly tracking communication.
    • Assumes complete responsibility for architectural design within his/her discipline.
    • Performs design in coordination with discipline team.
    • Reviews work of the project design team.
    • Familiar with other disciplines and performs inter-discipline reviews.
    • Communicates with other disciplines to coordinate design.
    • Assists architectural team in development of drawings and specifications.
  • Attends weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Serves as a technical specialist.
  • Works with existing clients to grow existing relationships and further develop additional client relationships.
  • Has marketing responsibilities including developing new clients.
  • Prepares complex calculations, designs, specifications and/or reports for checking and reviewing by others.
  • Checks complex calculations, designs, specifications and/or reports prepared by others.
  • Directs technicians and/or drafters assigned to the department.
  • Makes recommendation and/or decisions on unusual or complicated issues.
  • Directs and assists co-workers with performing field measurements.
  • Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to the building code is required.
  • May direct construction observation of others on complex projects.
  • Promotes the use of and participates in the development of company design and production standards and works with department manager to ensure adherence to latest code versions.
  • Assists in the education and development of design staff and acts as a resource for design questions.
  • Maintains neat and organized work area to allow efficient access to project information required by other team members.
  • Assists with whatever duties are required to deliver a quality project on schedule and within budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture desired but not required.
  • RA highly desirable, but not required.
  • 10+ years previous architectural design experience.
  • Must have knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Proficient in the use of computer for design and understand CAD operations. Revit and BIM 360 experience highly desirable.
  • Highly effective at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the client.
  • Integrity, sense of responsibility, independent judgment.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
  • General understanding of services performed by architects and engineers of all disciplines.
  • Ability to participate in interdisciplinary checks
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the PC/windows environment with experience in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

This position operates in a professional office environment at REW offices in Westlake, Ohio.

This is typically a full-time position, which is defined as being scheduled and average of 40 hours per week.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

The employee will occasionally be required to perform various engineering-related tasks at active construction sites, or active client facilities. The employee may be subject to the usual hazards of these environments, and may include moving heavy equipment, lifting loads, etc. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the field.
