Job Description: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Cassandra / NoSQL)
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in platform infrastructure support and distributed NoSQL databases. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with deep expertise in Cassandra database administration and support. This role involves working closely with development teams to design, maintain, and optimize scalable, fault-tolerant database systems that power mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Cassandra clusters to support high-availability and distributed workloads.
- Provide platform infrastructure support for development teams, ensuring smooth integration of NoSQL databases into applications.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance, replication, and scalability.
- Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for Cassandra and other NoSQL systems.
- Ensure security, compliance, and data integrity across distributed environments.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure, containerization, and distributed databases.
Skills & Qualifications
Core Skills
- Cassandra Database Expertise: Installation, configuration, tuning, replication, and troubleshooting.
- NoSQL Databases: Strong knowledge of distributed NoSQL systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Couchbase preferred).
- Infrastructure Engineering: 12+ years in platform support, system administration, and distributed systems.
- Performance Optimization: Query tuning, capacity planning, and cluster scaling.
- Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP for hosting and scaling Cassandra clusters.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm for deploying and managing distributed databases.
- Monitoring Tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or equivalent.
- Networking & Security: Strong understanding of distributed system networking, encryption, and access control.
