Senior AI-Assisted Software Engineer - Backend-Heavy (Remote - LATAM)

At Zarego, we are looking for an AI-Assisted Backend-Heavy Software Engineer (Node.js & React) to join our team. If you are passionate about architecting modern web solutions and thrive when solving complex technical puzzles — and you've made AI a real part of how you build software — we want to meet you!

What we're looking for: 

• Experience: 5+ years of professional experience building, shipping, and maintaining production-grade web applications.
• Backend Expertise: Core strength in backend engineering, with deep, hands-on experience building robust, scalable server-side applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Frontend Proficiency: Hands-on experience using React and TypeScript to collaborate on and build responsive user interfaces.
• Software Fundamentals: Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, relational database design, API architecture, and a solid testing mindset.
• AI-Assisted Development: Regular user of modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) across the full development lifecycle — implementation, debugging, testing, documentation, and code reviews — while maintaining high engineering quality.
• Engineering Judgment with AI: Strong judgment about where AI genuinely accelerates the work and where it doesn't. You review what AI produces with the same rigor you'd apply to any teammate's code, and you own the result either way.
• Collaboration & Ownership: Ability to take ownership of features from design to production, collaborating effectively with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers in fast-paced environments.
• Bilingual Communication:
  - Advanced, fluent English to participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and collaborate with international stakeholders.
  - Professional Spanish proficiency. 
• Location: Remote. Candidates must reside in Latin America (LATAM).

Nice to have:

• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker), deployment workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
