Our client is an established Malaysian technology solutions provider with over 20 years of industry experience. They specialise in Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) solutions, including barcode, RFID, mobile computing, software systems, and enterprise workflow digitisation.

They support businesses across sectors such as FMCG, financial institutions, education, manufacturing, warehousing, and multinational organisations. The company is part of a larger integrated technology group with regional presence in Southeast Asia

About role:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (Android) to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality Android applications using Java or Kotlin.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into clean, efficient code.
• Build new features and enhance existing application functionality.
• Integrate RESTful APIs, backend services, and JSON-based data flows.
• Apply MVVM or Clean Architecture principles.
• Work with Android Jetpack components.
• Ensure application performance, responsiveness, and stability.
• Perform debugging, root cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
• Participate in peer code reviews and propose technical improvements.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of hands-on Android mobile application development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java or Kotlin.
• Strong working knowledge of Android Studio and Android SDK.
• Proficiency in RESTful APIs and JSON.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Experience implementing MVVM or Clean Architecture.
• Experience working with Android Jetpack components.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, and software engineering principles.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with SQLite or local storage.
