Job Title: Audit & Internal Controls Analyst
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
Schedule: 4 days on-site

We are seeking an Audit & Internal Controls Specialist to support our federal client. This role provides critical analytical, operational, and technical assistance related to audit responses, internal controls, risk assessments, and policy development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting management responses to Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs), strengthening internal controls, and ensuring compliance with Federal and Department of Defense regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support NFR remediation efforts by gathering information, drafting client responses, and preparing audit walkthroughs.
  • Develop action plans, Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) to remediate audit findings and risks.
  • Maintain and distribute finalized documents through SharePoint and other internal repositories.
  • Recommend improvements to internal controls and document end-to-end processes.
  • Develop risk assessments, internal control documentation, flowcharts, and risk control matrices.
  • Review existing policies for compliance with Federal and DoD regulations.
  • Draft, update, and implement policies including DTMs, DLAMs, DLAIs, and SOPs.
  • Analyze and research audit findings related to Real Property and General Equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • Experience with Federal financial management, audit support, or internal controls.
  • Knowledge of FASAB, GAAP, and DoD financial regulations.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, process documentation, and corrective action planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and other collaboration tools.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • CPA, CFE, CIA, CGFM, or similar certification.
  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or federal financial statement audits.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
