Cakum Global is recruiting an Airfreight Manager for our client based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Role Overview:
This role is responsible for leading the Port Moresby airfreight operations, ensuring compliance with PNG regulations, maintaining high service standards, and driving revenue growth. The Airfreight Manager will oversee import/export cargo processing, bonded warehouse operations, delivery coordination, interface with contractors (inc Airlines) and financial performance of the airfreight division.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Manage end-to-end import and export airfreight operations

  • Ensure compliance with customs, NAQIA, and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee bonded warehouse operations and inventory accuracy

  • Supervise delivery scheduling, fleet maintenance, and driver compliance

  • Maintain accurate records within the company system

Team Development

  • Set clear KPIs and monitor team performance

  • Train, coach and mentor team members on processes and company systems

  • Support resolution of complex shipment and client issues

Financial & Commercial Oversight

  • Manage monthly Profit & Loss performance within budget

  • Monitor bill-ins and bill-outs for accuracy and timeliness

  • Support tenders and provide professional advice on customs, permits, and dangerous goods

  • Contribute to business growth initiatives and market development

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships

  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and service quality

  • Coordinate effectively with brokerage, accounting, warehouse, and delivery teams

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Logistics, Customs Administration, or similar

  • 5+ years experience in airfreight operations management

  • Strong knowledge of customs clearance, import/export, and air cargo regulations
  • IATA certification highly regarded

  • Proven leadership and team management capability

  • Strong financial acumen and reporting experience

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in English and holds a valid driving license
