About the job Facilities Manager
Why Castelion, Why Now
Castelion is moving incredibly fast to develop and deliver advanced defense systems at a time when execution matters more than ever. We believe focus and technical excellence are decisive advantages - and we are building a team that can deliver real capability, not just concepts.
This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage, where your work will directly shape critical systems, influence major technical decisions, and have immediate, real-world impact.
Facilities Manager
We are seeking a highly proactive, hands-on Facilities Manager to lead the development, operations, and continuous improvement of Castelion's Midland, Texas site. This role is critical to enabling safe, reliable, and scalable operations across manufacturing, test, and parallel operational areas supporting production activities. You will serve as the primary owner of site infrastructure performance—balancing immediate operational needs with long-term site development as the facility evolves.
Success in this role requires building structure from ambiguity—establishing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), developing maintenance systems, and driving prioritization across competing operational demands. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, brings strong operational discipline, and is comfortable making decisions with incomplete information while maintaining a high bar for safety, uptime, and execution.
This position may be structured as part-time or full-time, depending on candidate availability and site needs, but requires high flexibility to support critical operations and site readiness.
Responsibilities
- Own all site infrastructure operations at the Midland facility, serving as the primary point of contact for facilities, maintenance, and site support needs
- Stand up and implement SOPs across maintenance, equipment support, utilities, safety coordination, and vendor management
- Establish prioritization frameworks to manage competing demands across production support, maintenance, and site buildout activities
- Build and execute preventative maintenance programs for building systems, utilities, and site equipment
- Oversee and maintain site systems including electrical distribution, HVAC (as applicable), plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, and industrial utilities
- Support installation, commissioning, and upkeep of production and test-support infrastructure
- Manage and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely resolution of maintenance, repair, and operational issues impacting site readiness
- Source, manage, and hold accountable external vendors and contractors for quality, cost, and schedule performance
- Partner closely with EHS, security and operations teams to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with our design engineer to support site layout planning, infrastructure expansion, and optimization of production and test flows
- Develop systems for asset tracking, maintenance logs, downtime tracking, and spare parts inventory
- Support emergency response and critical issue resolution (equipment failure, utility disruption, site incidents)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency across the site
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- 4+ years of experience in industrial facilities, manufacturing support, maintenance, or site operations
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement SOPs and maintenance systems in an industrial environment
- Strong working knowledge of industrial systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC where applicable, plumbing, compressed air, and general utilities)
- Experience supporting production, test, or industrial operations environments (not office facilities)
- Strong understanding of workplace hazards and safety practices
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively across competing operational demands in fast-paced environments
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, and field service providers
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate independently with high ownership and accountability
- Willingness to support off-hours or urgent operational needs as required
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting industrial production sites, test facilities, or manufacturing-heavy environments
- Background in industrial utilities, or mixed production/test operations
- Experience building maintenance programs and operational systems from the ground up
- Familiarity with CMMS tools, asset tracking systems, or maintenance scheduling systems
- Experience with infrastructure projects (site buildout, utility installation, equipment integration)
- Strong experience with root cause analysis and reliability improvement efforts
- Background in aerospace, defense, energy, or other high-reliability industrial sectors
- Hands-on troubleshooting or field maintenance experience strongly preferred
