Logistics and Materials Operations Lead
We are looking for a Logistics & Materials Operations Lead to own and scale logistics operations for our New Mexico production facility.
This role sits at the center of manufacturing, supply chain, and operations, ensuring that materials move safely, compliantly, and without delay across multiple sites. You will be responsible for building systems, managing complex and regulated shipments, and enabling production to operate at speed. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role with immediate impact.
Responsibilities
Own Logistics Execution
- Manage day-to-day shipping operations across inbound, outbound, and inter-site transfers
- Own the shipping request and ticketing system to ensure accuracy, traceability, and on-time delivery
- Develop and enforce SOPs for packaging, labeling, and shipment documentation
Lead Hazardous Materials Transport and Storage Compliance
- Oversee shipment of hazardous and regulated materials, including explosives where applicable
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory requirements
- Act as the internal point of contact for audits, documentation, and carrier compliance
Build Carrier & Transportation Network
- Develop a network of qualified carriers capable of handling specialized and high-risk shipments
- Negotiate service levels, pricing, and contracts with logistics providers
- Establish redundancy and contingency plans for critical transportation lanes
Coordinate Materials Across Sites
- Partner with Texas operations to support casting and production through inventory movement and planning
- Manage transfers between internal facilities and third-party storage locations
- Maintain visibility into inventory across multiple sites
Support Site Launch & Scale-Up
- Stand up logistics operations for the New Mexico facility from the ground up
- Travel regularly to Los Angeles to align with headquarters teams and assist with inventory and logistics operations
- Travel to Midland facility periodically to assist with hazmat transport and inventory operations
- Build scalable systems and processes that support rapid production growth
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or materials operations
- Experience managing complex or regulated shipments
- Strong understanding of multi-site inventory coordination
- Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, high-ownership environments
- Clear communicator capable of working cross-functionally across operations, engineering, and suppliers
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with hazardous materials or explosives logistics
- Background in aerospace, defense, or high-consequence manufacturing environments
- Experience building logistics systems, workflows, or carrier networks from scratch
- Familiarity with ERP, shipping, or workflow management systems
