About the Role
We are recruiting a highly competent and professional General Purpose Dog Handler to join our Patrol and Response Team. In this role, you will conduct targeted and responsive patrols to support our clients across a range of functions, including lock-up duties, proactive estate patrols, lone-worker support, and alarm response.
General Purpose Dog Handlersand their Patrol and Response Officer counterpartsare key frontline members of the team and report directly to the Regional Operations Officer. You will typically be vehicle-based, deploying from Salisbury, and performing a variety of duties across a typical 12-hour shift.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and sound judgement, with the ability to remain calm, proportionate, and decisive, often under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Proactively patrol assigned locations, internally and externally, deploying your general-purpose patrol dog appropriately and in line with NASDU and company standards.
- Conduct lock-ups and alarm-setting procedures in accordance with assignment instructions, ensuring all access points are secure.
- Challenge trespassers promptly and ensure their safe removal, reporting all incidents accurately and professionally.
- Respond proactively and promptly to support colleagues and react to observed threats, incidents, or alarm activations.
- Investigate suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles, sharing relevant intelligence with colleagues, management, HR, and police partners where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate written records, including detailed incident reports and evidence logs.
- Where necessary and lawful, detain and if appropriate, arrest individuals, and liaise with police to preserve evidence, provide statements, and support investigations.
- Support stakeholders, clients, and colleagues professionally and courteously at all times.
- Act as an ambassador for the Company, maintaining excellent standards of driving, presentation, and conduct.
Requirements and Skills
- Frontline SIA Licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervision, or Close Protection).
NASDU Certification, or a recognised equivalent qualification.

Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 3 penalty points.

First Aid at Work (3-day) qualification, or willingness to obtain this.

Proven professional experience as a security officer or dog handler.

Strong written communication skills and confidence in report writing.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Excellent situational awareness, decision-making ability, and personal integrity.

Successful applicants can expect to earn £31,000 per annum (based on a 40-hour working week), rising to £42,500 with progression and enhanced duties.
